AOEU is looking for an experienced writer to partner with design, product, and marketing to create compelling experiences for art educators to support our products, degree programs, and coursework.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES


  • Use storytelling to support and connect cohesive narratives to what our users are thinking/feeling
  • Write clear, concise product and marketing content, transactional emails, site messaging, and landing pages
  • Look at messaging through multiple lenses to deliver experiences for  different audiences
  • Use data and research in evaluating conversion and impact
  • Work with internal partners to understand project goals, target audiences, and messaging needed to achieve objectives for a wide variety of artifacts across print, screen, video, and social channels
  • Edit and proofread content for PRO/FLEX products and magazine articles
  • Maintain and document content guidelines, and voice/tone standards across the entire university based on APA guidelines and the latest research for inclusivity and accessibility

The duties of this position are typical of those performed in a home office setting with normal ranges of temperature.  The majority of tasks will be performed while sitting at a desk.

  • AOEU is a remote-first company, and this is a remote job. 
  • Where/when do we work? For this role, it can be anywhere within the continental U.S., operating between Eastern to Pacific time zones for collaboration.
  • Prefer a cornfield view? We’ve got you covered. Our HQ is located in Osage, Iowa. 


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Position requires considerable concentration and focus throughout the day.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift items such as laptops, monitors, and the like.
  • When traveling: 
    • The ability to lift or push your suitcase.
    • Ability to carry/lift up to 25-50 lbs of presentation materials for customers or for conference presentations, etc.


VISUAL & TACTILE REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to view computer screens for significant periods of time.  The Art of Education University is an online university.  Therefore 95-98% of one’s time will be on or using technology.
  • Ability to use a laptop keyboard with accuracy.
  • Ability to hear at normal levels and through electronic devices such as laptops, earbuds, phones, and the like.


Position Requirements

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not required


EXPERIENCE

  • 3+ years of professional experience writing or editing content for web or product experiences.
  • You’re a flexible writer who wants to collaborate across the design lifecycle—from ideation, outlining, and sketching with designers and subject matter experts, to putting together high fidelity artifacts for print and screen. 
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills and work from a place of curiosity and discovery as you gather information and construct messaging for peer-review, internal stakeholders, and educator cohorts. 
  • The ability to effectively manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • A portfolio of work that shows a range of created content, such as email newsletters, campaign work, educational materials, and resource guides, key product flows, website content, and anything else that might be applicable. 


Compensation and Benefits

POSITION DETAILS

Structured as a full-time, exempt, salaried position. Compensation is commensurate with education and experience.  Payroll is issued on a semi-monthly basis paid on the 15th and last day of each month.

THE PROCESS
