Senior Accountant

The Art of Education University (AOEU) is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our rapidly growing institution. We are searching for an innovative team member who will remain flexible and agile to meet the needs of our changing business. This individual will be passionate about getting it right in all aspects of their role and will collaborate with and support leaders, the Finance team, and cross-functional areas. As the Senior Accountant, you will use your business acumen and analytical competencies to assist with the creation of reports for monitoring key financial metrics and forecasting activities.  This individual will continually look for ways to help our team become more efficient and effective and use problem-solving skills to support business objectives.


POSITION DETAILS

Structured as a full-time exempt, salaried position, this individual will report directly to the Controller.  Compensation is commensurate with education and experience.  Payroll is remitted semi-monthly on the 15th and last day of each month. 


The Details | Senior Accountant |

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, identify gaps, and reconcile conflicts.
  • Build analytical tools and business assets to measure key metrics and financial performance.
  • Assist with preparation of forecasts, budgets, and cash flow plans. 
  • Assist with constructing executive-level presentations and collaborate with Controller on complex analytical findings in a clear, concise, and decision-impacting manner.
  • Provide decision support for day-to-day operational decisions.
  • Perform duties necessary for an effective and timely monthly close, including the preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations while continuing to maintain consistency and accuracy.
  • Analyze and understand subscription revenue-related complexities including sales tax, multi-year revenue recognition, and product offerings.
  • Analyze sales contract information and gather transaction data to prepare revenue accruals.
  • Manage the accounts receivable process including but limited to verifying timely invoicing, monitoring past due collections, and performing reconciliations of subsidiary accounts and the general ledger.
  • Uphold data integrity for financial information utilized in reports developed to monitor key metrics and financial performance.
  • Continuously seek improvements in efficiency and effectiveness of our department operations.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Advanced knowledge of accounting / ERP systems; Experience with QuickBooks preferred.
  • Comfortable with productivity tools such as Google Workspace.
  • Ability to learn multiple technology platforms and services.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and modeling skills combined with strategic thinking.
  • Ability to take initiative, adapt quickly to changing priorities, and work with effective business judgment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, independently, and with multi-stakeholder execution.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to concisely articulate complex information, both verbally and in writing, in a professional and fact-based manner.


Position Requirements

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field


EXPERIENCE

  • 3 years of experience in accounting, finance, or business

Compensation is commensurate with experience and market.
