Customer Engagement Specialist | The Profession | 

The Art of Education University (AOEU) is seeking a part-time Customer Engagement Specialist (Onsite/Remote) who will play a vital role in supporting the institution’s vast number of students and customers with a variety of needs.  This individual will be highly service-focused and thrives in engaging with and finding solutions for customers in an effective and efficient manner.  Exhibiting professionalism, flourishing in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to problem solve quickly is essential to the success of this individual.  Serving as the “face” of the institution, curating innovative and engaging customer experiences will be pivotal.

The Details | Customer Engagement Specialist | 

Essential Functions

  • Quickly identify and assess customer needs to achieve satisfaction. 
  • Resolve product or service related issues quickly.
  • Recommend potential products or services to customers that may best meet their needs.
  • Support the generation of sales, admissions, and academics leads..
  • Identify and assess customers’ needs to achieve satisfaction.
  • Provide accurate, valid, and complete information using the right methods/tools available.
  • Follow communication procedures and guidelines.
  • Assist with purchases/subscriptions.
  • Assist with refunds.
  • Stay apprised of institutional promotions, events, and marketing efforts.
  • Invoice students and customers.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • High aptitude for problem solving and collaboration to effectively work with other departments in order to provide timely customer service and responses.
  • Ability to articulate in a clear and concise manner providing a guided tutorial of support.
  • Ability to engage with individuals with multiple backgrounds and experiences, and who are located around the world.
  • Ability to multitask at a high level with incoming calls, chats, emails, and the like.
  • Build sustainable relationships of trust through open and interactive communication.
  • Ability to handle complaints with ease while providing appropriate solutions and alternatives within reason to ensure resolution.
  • Ability to evaluate current processes and find more effective and time-efficient solutions.

Work Environment

The duties of this position are typical of those performed in a home office setting with normal ranges of temperature.  The majority of tasks will be performed while sitting at a desk.



  • Position requires considerable concentration and focus. 
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift items such as laptops, monitors, and the like.


  • Ability to view computer screens for significant periods of time.  The Art of Education University is an online university.  Therefore 95-98% of one’s time will be on or using technology.
  • Ability to use a laptop keyboard with accuracy.
  • Ability to hear at normal levels and through electronic devices such as laptops, earbuds, phones, and the like.


Position Requirements


  • High-school diploma or equivalent, college degree strongly preferred. 


  • Proven customer service and support experience.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems, such as Hubspot, preferred, but not required.
  • Comfortability with technology and a multitude of tech platforms.

Compensation and Benefits


Structured as a part-time, non-exempt hourly position, the Customer Engagement Specialist will report directly to the Director of Marketing and Customer Experience.  Compensation is commensurate with education and experience.  Payroll is issued on a monthly basis paid on the 15th of the month.


Hours will include afternoons, nights, and weekends.



Appropriate and up-to-date technology will be provided.
