REMOTE Part-Time Proofreader | The Profession | 


The Art of Education University (AOEU) is seeking a skilled proofreader with a keen eye for detail with the potential of some copyediting. The proofreader works closely with team members in all departments to complete proofreading jobs and plays an integral role by performing a final quality check of copy before publication.

The Details | Proofreader | 


Essential Functions


The proofreader’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  •  Proofread documents across a variety of AOEU platforms for grammar, spelling, typographical errors, and style.
  • Make corrections and suggest edits in documents.
  • Utilize word processors and other software to make changes to documents.
  • Stay abreast of new developments in grammar and terminologies in language.
  • Contact team members directly to clarify questions regarding grammar, word choice, etc.
  • Rephrase written text to ensure that the document structure and content are consistent.
  • Ensure projects are completed by the deadlines.
  • Forward proofread materials for approval and publication.
  • Develop and maintain a clear and consistent brand voice.
  • Understand different language styles that appeal to various target markets.
  • Work with colleagues to discuss and understand the core message and target audiences.
  • Comfortably vary voice style and other characteristics based on the institution’s need or target audience.

Work Environment




  • Position requires considerable concentration and focus throughout the day
  • Ability to sit/stand for long periods of time



  • Ability to view computer screens for significant periods of time. The Art of Education University is an online university. Therefore 95-98% of one’s time will be on or using technology.
  • Ability to use a laptop keyboard with accuracy
  • Ability to hear at normal levels and through electronic devices such as laptops, earbuds, phones, etc.

Position Requirements



  •   Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred



  • A minimum of 2 years experience in proofreading or a related field

Compensation and Benefits




  • This is a part-time hourly position
  • Compensation is commensurate with education and experience.
  • Secure and reliable access to the internet, with the capability to support audio and video calls on occasion is required for this position.

Finalists will have one final culture interview with the President of the University.
